GRADING:

Well now you may ask yourself how will you be graded. When I was living in México we used to wear the traditional Japanese uniforms for martial arts or gi’s and the Japanese masters graded us with belts. Those uniforms were very uncomfortable, heavy and over all hot. Since México City is not a cold place, training in those uniforms were like training MMA inside a sauna suit. And our dojo (Gym) did not have air conditioning.

Our Japanese Sensei’s (Teachers) flew from Japan once a year to give us an exam.

We had eight belts white belt, yellow belt, orange belt, green belt, blue belt, brown belt, black belt, and red belt being the highest ranking in the Sei-Shin-Kan Bu-Jutsu style.

White belt      Yellow belt    Orange belt     Green belt        Blue belt       Brown belt

                                                                             Black belt        Red belt

If you pass the exams you will receive a diploma and your new belt. If you do not pass the exams you will have to wait one year to re-do it. We used to train very hard pass the exams because it was very shameful to fail.

My teacher Hanshi Luis Zavalza Reyes is a 10 Degree Red belt which is the maximum qualification someone can achieve in a martial arts organization.

Once you become a black belt we have different martial arts titles:

Martial artists often address their teachers as Sensei.

Junior and senior students are organized via a senpai/kōhai system.

Various titles are also employed to refer to senior instructors. In Mexico we use Renshi, Shihan, and Hanshi

  • Renshi (錬士: れんし): instructor.
  • Shihan (師範: しはん), chief instructor; this title is given to 5th degree black belts or higher.
  • Hanshi (範士: はんし) refers to a senior expert considered a "teacher of teachers". This title is used by many different arts for the top few instructors of that style, and is sometimes translated "Grand Master".
  •

Since I moved to the United States the MMA movement has become a monster. With new uniforms and regulations, we no longer use heavy uniforms or the Belt system. Now our uniform is an MMA short of your choice and a Rank shirt. We use seven different colors for you to know how are you advancing on your martial arts path, and you will also receive a certificate of recognition.

We have three different kind of shirts for our uniform, so pick the one you like:
